Bad News Jazz and Blues Orchestra bandleader, Jeff Gavioli, was born and raised in Westfield MA, and found his appreciation for big band music as a young boy. His grandfather, a former drummer, played the records of Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, and Tommy Dorsey when the young Gavioli visited during summer vacations. Gavioli played and loved the saxophone in grade school, but after high school he chose a different path, and it wasn't until a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in 2008 that the music really came calling.
Since then, Gavioli made his way into the circles of some of great local talent, and formed Bad News Jazz in 2012 with the help of band manager Ken Longstreeth. The Bad News Jazz and Blues Orchestra consists of many professional, semi-professional, and lifelong hobbyist musicians who come together from across three New England states to make something greater than any one individual can.
